Jim Lavender, storyteller, is a child of the Luxapalila Swamp country near
"Possumtown" (Columbus), Mississippi. Now, a retired pastor, having spent three decades with an exciting suburban Richmond, Virginia, church, Jim is known nationally for his "over the top" children's messages featuring dozens of live, adopted animals.

Jim has hundreds of stories about growing up Southern, parenting, animals, and knee-slapping humor.

Dr. Jim and Avis Lavender live at their farm in rural Virginia with their animal friends.

Jim speaks at festivals, events, churches, and meetings nation wide.

"Jim Lavender has taken the experiences of his life and woven them into tales that will have his listeners rolling on the ground with tears of laughter running down their cheeks."

----Field Day of the Past Newspaper

"Jim Lavender will take you back to your childhood or the one you wish you had, or the one you might yet have."
