Cathryn Fairlee has been performing since 1982, full time since 1999, an all sorts of venues and festivals from California Pioneer graveyards to Chinese Buddhist caves to Mayan Guatemalan kitchens. She has been on the Bay Area Storytelling Festival committee for years, is a past board member of Storytelling Association of California and edited and still contributes to their newsletter, Storyline. She produced Story Swap on public radio for three years and has written and received grants for her story guild to bring storytelling into the classroom. Cathryn produces two Epic Days each year for all day communal telling of long works. Her MA thesis in History was kindly assisted by an NSN Member Grant. Its subject is Chinese Teahouse Storytelling, which she now presents as performance and workshop. She was a board member of NSN for two years.. When asked for what age she enjoys telling best, she usually replies with her own age. Traveling, listening, and telling are her passions.
