Michael Reno Harrell is an award winning songwriter, as well as a veteran storyteller and entertainer, and he's from the South, the Southern Appalachian Mountains to hone it a bit finer. One could compare Michael's performances to his granddaddy's pocket knife, well warn and familiar feeling, but razor sharp and with a point. His stories & songs have been described as Appalachian grit and wit but, as his writing shows, Michael's awareness is much broader than the bounds of his boyhood home or even the Southern Experience.
Michael's natural knack for storytelling has earned him praise from not only the music community but from the storytelling world as well, having been invited to perform at the National Storytelling Festival in 2008 as a "New Voices" Featured Teller and again in 2011 to perform the Saturday night Midnight Cabaret.
His humor and wit as well as the emotional depth of his work keep his fan base growing and staying tuned in for whatever comes next.

*Karen McPheeters, Director Farmington, NM Public Library:
"When I saw Michael connect with the audiences at the National Storytelling festival, I knew that I had to bring him to the Four Corners Storytelling Festival. Michael's southern styled approach to storytelling is familiar the moment you hear him - like sitting on your granny's front porch and visitin' with family - even if you're not from the South.  His music and his stories balance perfectly, sweet songs against stories with “briar patch” wisdom.  Michael's performances, tempered by his Carolina drawl, laid-back timing, and the permanent twinkle of mischief in his eyes, connect with audiences of all ages."
*David Holt:
"Michael Reno Harrell is one of those natural born Southern storytellers filled with wit, charm
and surprises. Whether the story is in song or narrative, Michael will draw you in and entertain
you, all the while making you feel right at home.
*Dr. Annabell Zikmund, Kearney, NE Area Storytelling Festival:
"Everyone who heard Michael at our festival, from pre-school children to seniors in a wide variety of settings, were enchanted by his stories, his music, and his genuine love for his audiences."
*Lynn Savage - Librarian Coordinator, Hendersonville, NC
"Michael mesmerized the 4th grade students with his songs and stories and inspired the writers and singers within them. His songs have a quality of truth and an insight into humanity that reminds me
