I was blessed to have a storytelling grandfather who shared a wonderful legacy with me--tall tales about "Snickerdoodle," a little-known tiny hero from American folklore. Snickerdoodle is a little guy who uses humor and imagination to outwit his foes. He travels the trail to adventure in a "peanutmobile" and is sometimes accompanied by his famous relatives Uncle Yankee Doodle and Cousin Polly Wolly Doodle.
His message: Dare to THINK BIG! Discover the small wonders within YOU! You're never too little to make a difference!

Snickerdoodle stories have a track record of successful pre-K-3 school presentations over the past 35 years, during my time as a kindergarten teacher and later as a visiting children's author. "Snickerdoodle" won a Mom's Choice book award in 2005.
If you are involved in storytelling with young children, like sharing tall tales/American folklore, have a sense of humor--and possibly improvisational/collaborative storytelling skills--and you want to share an empowering message for kids, I invite you to check out Snickerdoodle at www.snickerdoodleforkids.com.
You can hear an audio clip on the website, with NSN's Oracle-award-winning storyteller Gary Lloyd presenting a Snickerdoodle story. If YOU want to tell Snickerdoodle stories (adapting to your own style and repertoire), just contact me! I will send you a free updated packet of resource ideas, lesson plans, story-related activities.
