"Fixing to Tell About Jack" - A Benefit Storytelling Performance for the Hicks Family
State: North Carolina

Enjoy an afternoon of Appalachian Storytelling! with Headliners:
Sheila Kay Adams, Gwenda Ledbetter, Vixi Jil Glen, David Novak, Connie Regan-Blake, & special guest teller Ted Hicks.

Ray Hicks was known as the patriarch of American traditional storytelling. Before he passed away in 2003, he performed annually at the National Storytelling Festival and achieved international recognition. His legacy endures.

Because of health issues, Ted (Ray and Rosa's youngest son) has been in a nursing home in Banner Elk for 18 months. He is wheelchair-bound and cannot visit his homeplace because it is located down a steep hill. Rosa struggles getting up and down the same hill. Money raised through this benefit will supply funds necessary to provide a much-needed driveway for the Hicks Family.

All monies raised go into "The Ray & Rosa Hicks Fund" to assist Rosa and Ted, and also to pay for utilities, heating oil costs, land taxes & other expenses.

Additional donations may be sent to:
