Hello Everyone! My name is Laura Zuehsow and I am the new NSN Intern. I am a Master’s in Storytelling student at East Tennessee State University. I have an undergrad degree in Elementary Education and am hoping to use my storytelling to create stories that help explain difficult educational concepts (i.e. math and grammar). I love reading and am a self-proclaimed book-a-holic. I am new to telling stories without my “Teacher Hat” on, but am excited to branch out and try new things. I am looking forward to my Internship here at NSN, I can tell that I am going to have fun and learn a lot.

I am a graduate student in the Master of Accountancy program at East Tennessee State University. Jonesborough has always been my home and hopefully will continue to be. I am currently an intern with the World Trade Center near the airport. Volunteering is very important to me. In the past, I have volunteered with the Children’s Advocacy Center, local Boy Scout troops for five years, BSA Camp Davy Crockett, and my church.

My name is Kit Rogers. I have a background in the administrative field for both private and public sectors. At heart, I'm a teacher and storyteller. I've been pouring my home grown stories into my son for over a decade. Now I'll have the privilege of being surrounded by those in a field that I absolutely love and admire. My husband grew up in Jonesborough and after many years in the Carolinas he craved to return home. We are happier in this neck of the woods than any other place we've lived. With its old world charm and the warmth of the lovely southern people we're proud to call Jonesborough "home." I believe in the mission of the National Storytelling Network and am proud to be counted as a member of a very hard working and dedicated team.

3. Are you a Federal Employee? Donate to NSN through the Combined Federal Campaign.
The Arts Federation is a tax-exempt corporation founded to assist arts organizations with their most persistent challenge: funding. We seek to develop new revenue sources for qualified orchestras, museums, opera and ballet companies, film archives and festivals, arts service organizations and others, by helping them participate more effectively in workplace giving campaigns. To do this, we bring together arts professionals with experts in workplace fundraising. In particular, a number of our Directors and Advisors have played central roles for many years in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), the world's largest workplace giving campaign.
For more than four decades, the U.S. government has sponsored the Combined Federal Campaign - the world's largest workplace fundraising drive. Each fall, beginning in September, Federal employees - civilian, military and postal - are invited to support eligible national and local charities of their choosing. Each year more than 1.3 million employees pledge over a quarter billion dollars.
The CFC's long history, significant success, and special concern for the screening of charities has led other similar campaigns to follow its lead. Administrators of numerous state, municipal and private-sector campaigns incorporate all or part of the CFC list of charities into their own fundraising drives.
The National Storytelling Network in now a part of this campaign. NSN encourages you to spread the word and help support NSN. If you wish to donate to NSN, the code number is: 11603. Another way to show your support is to attend local CFC events and NSN encourages all storytellers and story-lovers to get involved.
4. Studying Storytelling in Bhutan, Dec. 13-24, 2007
The Kingdom of Bhutan is the last remaining Tantric Vajryana Buddhist Kingdom in the world. Bhutan preserves an ancient way of life that was begun by Tibetan Monks in the 8th century A.D. Mostly closed to outsiders until very recent years, Bhutan is attempting a delicate process of opening to the modern world while consciously and tenaciously holding to its traditional culture, folkways, spirituality, and stories. As part of this opening, Bhutan will hold its first ever Festival of Traditional Storytelling at the administrative center of Punakha in Central Bhutan. And you can be there!
The ETSU Graduate Program in Storytelling will sponsor a travel course to the Kingdom of Bhutan to attend this Festival as guests of the Bhutanese government and the Center for Bhutan Studies. If interested in going or for more information, please contact Dr. Joseph Sobol, ETSU Storytelling Program Coordinator, at 423-439-7863 or sobol@etsu.edu.
