Charlotte Blake Alston, Milbre Burch, Syd Lieberman and Dovie Thomason
(confirmed speakers) address the challenge of excellence when story's place in
the world has been relegated to “long ago and far away.” For 35 years the
national storytelling organization has been called upon to create a community
that is increasingly diverse, accessible and empowering; to engage all its
members from novice to nationally known; to remain relevant, balancing
collective memory with a call to new directions. These veteran artists speak of
their work within that community and the place of an ancient art form in a new
century.
