A Movement in Motion: Measuring Momentum, Direction and Potential
presented by
Ron Turner
Thursday, July 12, 2007
6:00 pm (Time subject to change)
This session will focus on the progress and momentum of the storytelling movement and will explore dynamics of the movement, metrics for its advancement, the sharpness of the vision, and the short-term and long-term implications of its impact: it will challenge active players in the movement to consider calibrations in the movement with potential to increase the scope and intensity of their efforts. The session will explore the need for major significant strategic alliances designed to advance the practice, performance, funding, public appreciation and awareness of storytelling in the U.S and abroad. It will provide a critical framework through which to view past achievements and set the stage for further expansion and growth of storytelling in the years to come. This session will call for a broader and deeper dialogue among current storytellers, storytelling organizations and entities beyond the world of storytelling. In sum, this session will seek to stimulate further discussion, thoughtful and caring analysis and, where possible and necessary, bold leaping and forward thinking designed to advance the storytelling movement.
