Through the Gateway:  Storytelling Frontiers Open for Educators and Youth

YES! (Youth, Educators, and Storytellers Alliance) SIG Pre-Conference

St. Louis, MO - Thursday, July 12, 2007

8:30 am-4:00 pm

St. Moritz and Bern

Walk through the St. Louis Arch and emerge in a land where youth and educators embrace storytelling.  Sessions will excite the 12-year-old to the 12th grade teacher as participants explore the classroom terrain or embark on a journey with youth tellers as guides.

Our keynote, Donna Washington, will jump us into what is unknown among many adults—storytelling in education is key to growth and creativity.

Greg Weiss will merge storytelling with drama with tandem telling and group storytelling theatre.  Jeremy Evans, 2004 Grand Torchbearer of the National Youth Storytelling Showcase, will coach in positive ways so that attendees can edify youth tellers.

Sadarri Saskill will add spice to a residency, whether relating to creative writing, literature, or any other subjects.  Barbara Chamberlain will reveal techniques on how to inspire reluctant student writers and to promote their natural desire to perform.

Join us July 12th as we explore new frontiers!
