Ethical Behavior in Organizations

Storytelling in Organizations Pre-Conference

Pittsburgh, PA

July 20, 2006

In today’s world of rapid advances in science and technology, increased awareness of global issues including human rights, and concern about each individual’s place in it all, let’s spend a day exploring the role each of us plays in defining and encouraging ethical behavior in ourselves and the organizations we influence. The stories organizations promote, the stories leaders tell, the stories we choose to live reveal who we are and how we relate to each other locally and globally, and ways in which we influence behavior planet wide.

Our day will consist of a time for introductions, a keynote address on how stories impact ethical and moral activities within organizations, presentation of three projects that highlight a variety of ways ethical behavior and values can be promoted, and time to discuss and process what the presenters have shared.

We will include ample time in the afternoon to engage in conversation around the community that is the SIO SIG and how a reciprocal relationship between the organization and individual members benefits both. This conversation will include ideas for future activities and work of the SIG.
