4th Annual Mountain Longleaf Festival: A Celebration of Arts & Environment

Family Fairy Tale Weekend DeSoto State Park: August 15 & 16
JSU Field Schools and DeSoto State Park will offer fun activities Friday night, all day Saturday and Saturday night for families. Join JSU Field Schools’ Renee Morrison for Campfire Talks Friday (Scary, Hairy & Sometimes Merry Fairy Tales of Little River) and learn about the legends of Bigfoot on Saturday night. Fairy Tales of Little River Canyon                                                                                                                 
Underneath a mossy rock deep in a secret cave somewhere in the canyon a magical book was discovered by storyteller Renee Morrison…Scary, Hairy & Sometimes Merry Fairy Tales of Little River.

Fairy Hunt & Fairy Houses                                                                                                           
Renee Morrison has been making fairy houses with her sons for sixteen years. She reports that occasionally the fairies do visit and leave tokens of their appreciation. She’ll also lead a short  “hobbity”  hike through an enchanted forest  to spot fairies and places where fairies like to play, live and observe us.

Campfire Storytelling: The Legend of Bigfoot                                                                                                                       
Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Yete, Big Elder Brother, “Ed”…you have heard of him! Yes, he does exist in Little River Canyon. Join us for a humorous night of “evidence” and storytelling about this famous creature.

Storytelling Weekend at Cheaha State Park: Storytelling WORKSHOP
Join Alabama storytellers Nina Reeves and Renee Morrison for a weekend of storytelling fun, spooky story shivers, and a “how to” workshop to learn practical technique for telling your own stories.
Dates:  October 17—18, 2008 Friday Night Ghost Telling (Family Friendly) at 6:00 pm; Saturday Workshops at 10:00 am- 11:00 am and 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm;    Storytelling Concert at 6:00 pm Saturday Night.
